Shika Budhoo
Durban-born actress, writer, and director Shika Budhoo, graduated in 2005, from The University Of Kwa-Zulu Natal with a BA Honours (cum laude) and currently lives in Johannesburg.
Since graduating she has been making a mark of top quality performances on the theatre scene in productions:

*Macbeth (2005)- roles of Witch and Lady MacDuff, Shakespeare produced by The Playhouse Company and The Actors Co-Operative directed by Garth Anderson staged Playhouse, Hilton, Richards Bay. She was nominated for best female newcomer at the Durban Theatre Awards in her honours year at varsity for her performance in this production.

ABOVE: *Jimbo (2009) - musical, staged at the Playhouse Drama, Shika took the role of background dancer and actress, produced by Hamish Kyd and The Playhouse Company.

ABOVE: *Sunghursh (2010)-Dance extravaganza as part of the South African Womens Arts Festival, staged at the Playhouse Opera, Lead Actress produced by The Playhouse Company and Nateshwar Dance Academy.

*Oh Golly Its Bolly (2013), staged at The Globe Theatre at Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, lead comedy actress role, produced by Jayesperi Moopen from the Tribangi Dance Acamedy and directed by Ivor Jones.

*Shika is a trained Voice Coach, helping performers and professionals to bring the best out of their voices and improve speech patterns.

*Shika has taught many years of Drama and acting technique to students aged 16months to 50+years.

*She has made screen appearances in

•Bay of Plenty on SABC 1,

•a short film, One Wedding And A Funeral, written and produced by Upasana Beharee and James Brown (2009), and

•she played Fatima Meer in a documentary for Al-Jazeera.

AYA'S BOY is written and directed and performed by Shika Budhoo and Dhaveshan Govender. A family Comedy, in the pic with Shika playing the old granny, Aya and Dhaveshan plays Pooven her crackpot grandson, among a host of other colourful characters.
